This page contains links to other sites that have information about
software development, something that I was involved with in a former life and
still follow closely.
- There are two topics that really get to the "art" of
software engineering - Agile Methodologies and Refactoring
The links on this page will provide you with enough
information on these topics to keep you busy for days.
- Ever wonder about Object
Databases? I have, and recently discovered that there is an API standard
for object databases defined by a consortium called the Object Data
Management Group. Their website has a lot of information and links to
vendors, whitepapers and the ODMG standard (currently v. 3.0) that is
providing an API for C++, Java and Smalltalk programming languages.

- Rick Schummer is a longtime friend and former
business partner who has a nice site
with a number of invaluable developer tools that he's developed.

- If you're into the theory (as well as the practice) of software
development The Portland Pattern Repository
is another wiki that should be on your list of
browser favorites.
- Another site that I recommend (and that led me to the Portland
Pattern Repository) is www.extremeprogramming.org
- Whil Hentzen is a former independent software developer and
now a small independent publisher of books on software development and
other computer topics. He's a recent convert to open-source and the Linux
platform. www.hentzenwerke.com
- How 'bout that Smalltalk language? If you're interested in learning
more about Smalltalk, check out Dolphin Smalltalk. You can download an
earlier version of their current development tool to play around with,
and their is a very active community surrounding the product.
